Shorter travel settings on the Helius.

We like riding bikes. It’s why we run Nicolai UK.

Katie and I have just had a week away in the Lake District. Big rocky climbs, big rocky descents (and stunning scenery). The Helius CC’s swallowed it all without complaining – 5″ travel and a high bottom bracker are really useful on that sort of terrain.

From the Lakes we went straight onto SITS for a bit of 24 Hour madness. Lots of fun but the more usual UK terrain of roots, rutted fields and wooded singletrack. The course definitely benefitted from a suspension bike (i was trashing hardtail riders downhill) but didn’t need long travel so I dropped both front and rear down to about 100mmm. With the front and rear dropping together the angles stay the same but the bottom bracket ends up lower which made the bike a little more stable for carving through the singletrack. I like it and will probably keep it like that until I’m next riding somewhere with big rocks again. Give it a try…
